LEXA – Where law meets artificial intelligence

What is our goal with LEXA? Our mission is to reduce the cognitive load on legal professionals and help them focus on the parts of their work that require creativity, responsibility and strategic thinking — the parts that algorithms will not replace in the foreseeable future.

To achieve this, we rely only on precise and trustworthy sources that are checked through multiple filters. This minimizes the risk that users lose time among irrelevant information or start moving in the wrong direction.

The AI and search solutions currently available on the market often produce false positives, or fail to find truly relevant information. Many people talk about the near-future emergence of artificial general intelligence (AGI) or artificial superintelligence (ASI). We do not believe that general-purpose solutions will operate with high accuracy in national legal domains in the near future.

Instead, we see the future in domain-specific, targeted AI systems and search algorithms, especially in critical areas that require high quality, such as law, finance and healthcare. Our goal is to build a reliable and commercially valuable tool tailored specifically to the needs of lawyers and companies, one that provides real support in legal decision-making. This is the essence of LEXA.

LEXA is an AI-based platform that does not merely accelerate legal work, but also supports lawyers and companies in making better-founded, more accurate decisions. In the world of legal risk, every minute matters. LEXA is therefore not just technology, but the perfect meeting point of law and artificial intelligence — two experts, two worlds working together to open new dimensions in legal decision-making.

How was LEXA created? The story of LEXA

What if artificial intelligence could help us see the chances in a lawsuit more clearly and assess risks faster?

As a lawyer, Éva had long been looking for the answer to this question. Although she had the professional knowledge, she was missing a data-driven tool capable of fast and precise legal search, one that could provide real support to lawyers and companies.

At the same time, Bálint, as a data scientist, was thinking about the same problem: how could legal information be transformed into algorithms that genuinely support decision-making? The structured nature of law offered a serious opportunity, but the right legal expertise was essential.

The question was obvious: why shouldn’t law and technology work together more closely? They were both separately looking for a partner with whom they could bring this dream to life.

Éva had been discussing her plans with another team, but something was missing. She was close to giving up when, one evening over wine with friends, her phone rang. A message arrived from Bálint:

“I’m looking for a lawyer for my AI lawyer project. Would you like to join?”

The answer was obvious. One meeting was enough for both of them to know: this was a new beginning.

This is how LEXA was born.

Who are we? Meet the people behind the AI.

Dr. Éva Kerecsen

I have more than 15 years of experience in the legal world, gained as legal director at NNG, one of the leading companies in the global tech industry. There I led the company’s legal team and supported international transactions, licensing agreements, intellectual property protection and data protection projects. My experience at NNG and my commitment to global legal solutions laid the professional foundation on which I later established my own law firm, Lawit. There, we provide legal solutions for clients in the tech sector that help them navigate a rapidly changing market not only legally, but also commercially.

But what happens when legal solutions are supported by technology, especially AI? How can we make companies’ legal decisions faster, more accurate and better adapted to the digital age? This question set me on a new path, one that led to the creation of LEXA.

LEXA is not just a legal search tool. It is an AI-based platform that accelerates legal decisions, helps manage legal risks and connects technological development with legal practice. LEXA aims to help companies navigate legal information by making relevant legislation, court decisions and legal information accessible precisely and quickly, while AI supports decision-making processes.

Bálint Bojkó

I earned master’s degrees in experimental psychology / psychometrics and finance. Over the past six years I have worked as a data scientist at several startups and multinational companies, in finance, computer vision and natural language processing. For almost two years now, I have been working exclusively with large language models and the processing and modelling of large text datasets.

When I started working with large language models, I was surprised by how much progress had been made since I wrote my thesis in natural language processing in 2019. Models trained for large-scale language processing and semantic search have opened up many new areas of application.

Although many believe that we may reach “artificial general intelligence” (AGI), or even “artificial superintelligence”, within a few years, this is still speculation. In my view, over the next 2–3 years, effective business applications of AI will be shaped primarily by domain knowledge and data storage and retrieval solutions optimized for AI models, especially in areas where the accuracy of answers can be measured objectively.

LEXA is exactly about this: instead of focusing on the development of general models and general solutions, we focus on how to build a jurisdiction-specific legal chatbot that maps the knowledge, reasoning and complexity of legal professionals as accurately as possible, using the most modern algorithms and language models.
